Humour and Satire - Autobiographical
The articles below are comprised of extracts taken from Gary's autobiographical material - three volumes worth - much of which has been "sitting on the shelf" for some years. This material also includes accounts of personal paranormal and mystical experiences taken from between the years 91 and 97. Also included are subsequent discussions, thoughts, insights and research into these experiences, and all set against the background of Gary's accounts of his personal life and his personal view of reality - warts and all.
These articles should be read in the order they are placed. Note that these articles are presented here for a limited time only.
Note from the author:
The biographical events I describe in the articles presented below are as true to my memory of them as I am ever likely to get.
Most of these incidents and the dialogues therein are taken from notes I made between 1989 and 2002.
Although my descriptions are based more on the impressions I was picking up from people at the time, to protect the feelings of those whose “bubbles” of reality occasionally merged with mine and as a consequence had the opportunity or misfortune to share these events with me, but who may feel that they are being unfairly portrayed, I have resorted to using pseudonyms instead of using real names. Members of my family remain truly named – especially my brother Paul, who shared many of the more stranger experiences with me, as do some of my/our friends. Jacqui Simmonds is truly named, as she is now my wife and the mother of my children. Ken Ward – whose sad, happy, and eventful life occasionaly comes under close scrutiny in a few of these articles, is truly named – as when I asked him if he wanted to remain anonymous, said “Nah, it’s alright, because ‘if’ and ‘when’ you do publish them, I can then sue you for slander.”
One more thing, I make no excuses for the expressive “bad language:” Like many of us I'm sure - its something I have had to endure from others and live with throughout my life, so for those who are offended, I say, ‘that’s life . . . get over it!’
